Skills. Final idea

My final idea with the fanzine is to have different mono-prints on each page, but to also spell out the words 'Castle Market' throughout it! My attempts are below...

This last one I put in to show some of the more inconvenient letters, after getting to this one I knew I'd have to plan accordingly. At first I thought it looked good but then I looked closer/harder and it is too busy, so much so you can't read the printed letter in the background and I'd rather you could!

Skills. My Prints

One thing I love about mono-printing is the difference in stroke widths you can get by applying different amounts of force in the paper!

Here's a few if my prints to show the technique...

quick print of Sharon's cafe, I used a decent amount of force with cotton bud where I had taken the but off of the end on one side.

really lightly pressed print of fish.

Skills. Mono-Printing

So a decent way through task 2 during the workshops, I realised that I wanted to do my fan-zine by mono-print only mainly because I like the idea of only having one colour throughout. Anyway I did a bit more research on it and this is what I've found...

One of the earliest artist that played around with mono printing was Hercules Seghers (1589-1638) a dutch painter.

This is one of his, the ink has been beautifully layered up to create a lovely landscape, although 'mono-print' does mean a singular print, that doesn't mean you can't add colour after colour!

Skills. My Playing cards

And these are my cards!

Skills. The Cards!

The BMW Card:
I chose this because of my childhood, I spent most of my time in my dads BMW specialist garage. So I've been fixing these Bavarian Motor Works since I was old enough to walk!

The Competitive Card:
To put it lightly I've never been the most gracious of losers... Come to think of it I'm not much better when I win hahaa!

The Joker Card:
Well according to my flat makes I'm a practical joker, I just think cello-taping my flatmates food to the outside of a fifth floor window as... Payback :)!

The Comic Card:
Comics... What's not to love! Especially the Flash! I read a comic and it's cliche but its not just another story it's like another universe, it's like the new 52 (comic-book-nerd humor) if you will You could ask anyone that's know me for at least 5 minutes, chances are I've brought up comics in a conversation!

Skills. Making the Pack

This is a net view of my design, I figured an ideal place for my logo would be right in the middle to grab attention straight away! I love my colour scheme too, purple and yellow work brilliantly, if you need proof ask The LA Lakers jersey designer :)

... And below is the final box which I'm pretty happy with.

Skills.

So I decided to run with the with the galling cards theme, I came up with a few idea thanks to my flat mates listing my perfections and flaws, well mainly flaws "/

I also needed to figure out the dimensions of the playing pack as well as the cards, which turned out to be 2.5x3.5inches (63x88mm), this is for a standard poker card. From this I knew the pack had to be a little bit bigger to make space so as you see below I made a net for the pack.

The picture above is just a trial of the net to see if the cards would fit, unfortunately the box I made was just a few mm too short, but that's something I learned from.

Final Animation

My final piece

Step by step

This is just rendered versions of the video as I saved it bit by bit!

Fur Elise

In this quick animation my goal was to perfectly sync the music with the bouncing of the dots!

Spider-Man does what ever a spider can!

Just a practise animation where I messed with the camera, light as well as basic positioning!
